Grit Walther is professor and head of group of the Chair of Operations Management at RWTH Aachen University, School of Business and Economics, since September 2012.

After her studies of geoecology she received her PhD at the Institute of Production and Logistics at Technische Universität Braunschweig in 2004. She founded and was head of a working group on "Sustainable Supply Chains" at the Institute of Automotive Management and Industrial Production at TU Braunschweig from 2004 to 2010, and habilitated with a thesis on this topic in 2009. She was professor and head of the Chair of Production and Logistics at Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 2010 to 2012.

Her research focuses on application-oriented, techno-economic modeling and evaluation of logistics and production systems as well as supply chains. Research areas are ​​market diffusion of new drive train technologies in the automotive industry, network and infrastructure planning for alternative fuels, network planning for recycling and reverse logistics, design and management of sustainable supply chains, as well as planning of sustainable mobility systems. The chair's research projects are carried out in interdisciplinary collaboration with research institutes from the engineering and natural sciences, as well as in cooperation with industrial companies and policymakers.
