Professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship at Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Free University in Amsterdam and Montpellier Business School in France. His research focuses on the role of small firms in markets, the role of business owners in firms and on the consequences and causes of entrepreneurship in economies; recently, he shifted his focus towards the biologic and psychologic roots of entrepreneurship. He is a research fellow at two renowned Dutch schools: the Tinbergen Institute for Economic Sciences and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management.
