About
A sustainable development of society is only viable if the limited available resources are used effectively. In particular, energy management plays a crucial role in this societal goal. Recently, as cloud-based services become ubiquitous, the computation in data centers has become fundamental to everyday human activity and the overall energy consumed in these infrastructures has grown tremendously. The DOME project proposes to tackle the issue of energy management in data centers. New tools to manage the workload of servers, re-allocation of computational virtual machines, balance the heat dissipation inside the building, are among the many goals to be attained in order to decrease the energy consumption. For that, powerful discrete optimization technology will be developed and used in order to solve these issues. Furthermore, multi criteria analysis will also be used to improve the decision making process. Finally, the tools developed will be deployed in a medium-size data center.
