Sérgio Batista is an Assistant Professor in Operational Research and Network Modelling at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Lyon and has a strong background in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the University of Porto. Prior to joining Instituto Superior Técnico, he was an Assistant Professor at Imperial College London and previously a Research Faculty member at New York University Abu Dhabi. His research lies at the intersection of transport systems, territorial modelling and decision sciences, with a focus on user-centric, data-driven decision-support tools for mobility and spatial planning. He develops integrated models combining travel behaviour, network dynamics and operational research to support sustainable urban mobility, congestion management, transport decarbonisation and evidence-based public policy.
